Call the legislature this week!

WE DID IT! On Thursday, more than 70,000 people packed the streets of lower Manhattan, sending a loud and clear message to Governor Paterson and the legislature: We need Fair Share Tax Reform! We were joined by thousands of other people in rallies across New York State.

Now we need to "SEAL THE DEAL." Both the Senate and Assembly are finalizing their budget resolutions - making this a crucial week for ensuring that Fair Share Tax Reform is part of the budget.

ACTION STEPS:·

Call your own legislators - both senators and assemblymembers - as well as legislators with whom you or your organization have relationships

MESSAGE and ASK:·

The federal government stepped up to the plate, but the stimulus doesn't solve the crisis alone - the state must now do its share!

· Support Fair Share Tax Reform in the state budget

· The policy should increase the income tax rate for those earning $250,000 and more, raising an estimated $6 billion a year
